Alma KNOBBE, 80, died Monday, Sept 20, 1999, in Covenant Medical Center, Waterloo, after a sudden illness. Services: 10:30 am Friday, St. Joseph's Catholic Church, by the Rev. Joseph McGuire. Burial: church cemetery. Friends may call from 4 to 8 pm Thursday at Overton Funderal Home, Dysart, where there will be a Scripture service, followed by a rosary at 7 pm.

Survivors include a brother, James and wife Ann Felderwerth of Defiance, MO; many nieces and nephews; and a special friend, Sue Fauser of Traer.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, George; and four brothers, Alfred, Bernard, Paul and Robert Felderwerth.

Alma Catherine Knobbe wa born in Flint Hill, MO on Jan 20, 1919, the daughter of Fred and Anna Tochtrop Felderwerth. She was raised in the Flint Hill area and received her education there. After completing school, Alma took care of children and helped families in the St. Louis area for many years.

On June 5, 1941, she married George Knobbe in Flint Hill and they made their home in O'Fallon, MO. Alma remained in O'Fallon while George served his country during World War II. After his return from the service, they farmed for many years in O'Fallon. Alma and George moved to Dysart, Iowa, in 1971 to a farm southeast of town. They later moved to Dysart.

George passed away May 9, 1996. After her husband's death, Alma continued to live in Dysart. She enjoyed her time on the farm and working as a homemaker, cooking for her family at special times together and always enjoyed being around children.

In June 1999, she made her home at Sunrise Hill Care Center in Traer. She was a member of St. Joseph's Catholic Church and American Legion Auxiliary in Dysart.

A memorial fund has been established.
