VORBA, Lillian Emily (1913 - 1999)

Obituary

Lillian Emily VORBA was born February 7, 1913 east of Traer, IA; the daughter of Joseph and Agnes (NECHANICKY) VORBA. Lillian attended school at Perry No. 3 country school and graduated from Traer High School in 1930. She then taught rural schools in Crystal and Carroll townships for 7 years. In March of 1950 she became employed at American Automobile Association as a travel counselor and worked at Marshalltown for 11 years and for 18 years in Mason City. In 1978 Lillian retired and moved to Marshfield, WI to take care of her uncle Aldoph VORBA until his death. Lillian returned to Traer in 1985 to make her home and was active in the community and was on the Traer Library Board and a member of the Friends of the library and Nature club. She was also a member of St. Paul Catholic Church & Rosary Society, Catholic Daughters and the KD’s. In free moments she enjoyed traveling and visiting all 50 states, Canada, the alpine countries of Europe and the Caribbean. In April of last year Lillian became a resident of Sunrise Hill Care Center where her death came on Tuesday, January 19, 1999 at the age of 85 years. Lillian is preceded in death by her parents and 3 brothers; Leslie, Joseph & Robert. She is survived by 2 sisters; Audrey SORRELL of Traer and Margaret ANDERSON of Grand Junction, CO and several nieces and nephews.

Following the service family and friends are invited to attend the luncheon at the church basement.
