VESELY, Edward J (1907 - 1985)

OBITUARY

Edward J VESELY was born Sept. 6, 1907, at Clutier, Iowa, son of John and Anna (SPLITCHAL) VESELY. Ed received his education in the Clutier and Traer community schools and then farmed with his father for a time. On Feb. 14, 1929, Ed married Alice AXON at the Little Brown Church in Nashua, Iowa. They made their home in Traer, where Ed was employed at Cherveny Implement until 1948 when he opened his own business - Ed’s Tractor Shop. Ed closed his shop in August of 1983, even though he retired in 1972. Ed was active in the Traer Fire Department for 32 years, being assistant chief for 17 years and chief for 10 years. Ed also drove school bus for many years for Traer schools. In his spare time, Ed enjoyed working in his garden and yard. In recent months, Ed had been in failing health and recently was admitted to Schoitz Medical Center in waterloo, where his died Wednesday, Jan. 9, 1985, at the age of 77 years. Ed was preceded in death by his parents, one daughter Beverly FEHR, one brother and one sister. He is survived y his wife Alice; one son Richard of Hudson; two brothers John VESELY of Traer and Clarence VESELY of Dysart; four sisters Mrs. Libbie RAIM of Cedar Rapids, Mrs. Vallie (Ann) MUSFELT of Traer, Mrs. Hilda JANSEN and Mrs. Clifford (Sylvia) HECKROTH, both of Dysart; as well as seven grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
