Lloyd VanGORP

Graveside services for Lloyd VanGORP, 81, of Carrollton, Ga., and formerly of Traer will be held Saturday, Aug.7, 1999, 9 a.m. at Buckingham Cemetery, rural Traer.

Mr. VanGORP died Friday, July 30, 1999, at the home of his daughter in Carrollton, Ga., following an extended illness.

Overton Family Funeral Home - Traer is in charge of local arrangements.

A memorial fund has been established.

Lloyd Thomas VanGORP was born Nov. 29, 1917, in Jasper County, Linville, Ia., the son of George and Cora (SWANN) VanGORP. He received his education in country school and Searsboro High School.

In 1939 he moved with his family to Tama County where he farmed with his father.

Lloyd later farmed for many years in the Buckingham and Geneseo area before becoming employed at the Duane Arnold Energy Center at Palo, Ia.

Prior to his retirement he drove truck for a paving and asphalt company.

In free moments Lloyd enjoyed fishing. For the past two years, Lloyd has been living with his daughter, Diane DORUS at Carrollton.

Preceding him in death were his parents; a son, Harold, and a sister, Loretta MUMM

He is survived by his daughter, Diane of Carrollton; a sister, Lola HULME of Traer; two brothers, Max VanGORP of Decorah and Lowell VanGORP of Marshalltown; one grandchild and two great-grandchildren.
