VALENTA, Bertha Helen (1907 - 1995)

OBITUARY

Bertha Helen VALENTA was born in Tama County on May 25, 1907, the daughter of Joseph & Anna (CHALUPNIK) KOPRIVA. She received her education in Country School & Traer High School. On June 30, 1925 she married Thomas Valenta at St. Vaclav Catholic Church. Bertha & Tom first made their home with his parents and then moved to farm near Voorhies in 1928. In 1950 Bertha and Tom moved to Traer to make their home where Bertha continued to live after Tom’s death on March 1, 1991. Bertha then became a resident of Sunrise Hill Care Center. When Bertha was able she enjoyed dancing, bowling, playing cards and traveling. She was a member of St. Paul Catholic Church and Rosary Society and a former member of the Garden Club. Recently Bertha became a patient at Covenant Medical Center at Waterloo where her death came on Saturday, January 29, 1995 at the age of 87 years. Bertha was preceded in death by her parents, husband, a daughter Vivian Ann and three brothers, Louie, Joseph, & George. She is survived by her daughter, Mrs. Harry (Dorothy) PECENKA of Toledo, 1 brother William KOPRIVA of Traer, and 1 sister Mrs. Duane (Anne) BARR of Cedar Rapids, as well as eight grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.

Family and friends are invited to return to the Traer Memorial Building following the committal services for Lunch & fellowship.
