FINCH, Oren H (1917 - 1989)

OBITUARY

Oren H. FINCH was born August 18, 1917, at Traer, Iowa, son of Oren and Anna (BANNAN) FINCH. At the age of five, Oren moved to make his home at Boone, Iowa, where he received his education, graduating from Boone High School in 1936. After graduation, Oren worked at Cavalier Motor in Traer until 1941, when he entered the U.S. Army later receiving a medical discharge in 1942. In 1942, Oren was married to Marie JUSTICE and they made their home in Traer. Oren was employed by John Deere, Schukei Motor and Deke Motor. Marie and Oren moved to cedar Rapids, where Oren was employed at Mercy Medical Center in Cedar Rapids for the past 15 years. Oren had been in failing health in recent years and was admitted to Mercy Medical Center in Cedar Rapids, where he died Thursday morning, June 29, 1989, at the age of 71 years. Oren was a 22-year member of the Traer Fire Department and the Ripley United Church of Christ. He was preceded in death by his parents, one daughter Donna, three brothers Don, Merle and Elmer. He is survived by his wife Marie of Cedar Rapids; one son Ted of Cedar Rapids; two brothers Ken of Escondido, Calif., and Ralph of Santa Cruz, Calif.; one sister Lula HYLAND of Houston, Texas, and five grandchildren.
