Frances B BRANDT

Funeral services for Frances B. BRANDT, 87, of Traer, will be held Thursday, Dec. 17, at 10 a.m. at the United Methodist Church in Traer with burial in Geneseo Cemetery, Buckingham, Iowa. Mrs. BRANDT died at Covenant Medical Center in Waterloo Monday, Dec. 14, 1992.

The Revs. Martha and Dan Anderson will officiate at the service with Joleen Harrington serving as organist and Wayne Dunlavey as vocalist.

Casket bearers will include Eric BRANDT, Michael Mickelson, Brian Philiph, Floyd MEEKER, Larry Gregory and Mark Keefer. Mr. and Mrs. James Abernathey and Mr. and Mrs. Pete Barge will serve on the flower committee.

Frances B BRANDT was born Feb. 14, 1905, in Geneseo Township, Iowa, the daughter of Rocoe J. and Pearl (McCONNELL) MEEKER. She received her education in the Geneseo School and graduated from La Porte High School in 1923. Frances continued her education at Cornell College and received her elementary education degree.

Frances taught school at Morrison, Iowa and later at Manchester. On Sept. 7, 1928, she was united in marriage to Harold BRANDT at the home of her parents in Waterloo.

The couple lived in Waterloo before moving to Dubuque and later to Rockford, Ill. where Harold worked for Rath Packing. Harold and Frances were transferred to Chicago and Peoria before returning to Traer in 1950 after purchasing their grocery business. Frances was active in the grocery business with Harold and later with their son, Doug.

On April 7, 1992, Frances became a resident of Sunrise Hill Care Center. She was a member of the United Methodist Church and of the Order of Eastern Star.

Preceding her in death were her parents; one brother; one sister; one son, Douglas BRANDT, and one grandson.

She is survived by her husband, Harold of Traer; one daughter-in-law, Barbara BRANDT of Marquette, Iowa; one foster daughter, Corrine ELSTON of Glenwood Springs, Colo.; three grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

Overton Funeral Homes, Traer is in charge of arrangements.
