George S ADDISON (1905 - 2002)
George S. ADDISON was born near Traer, Iowa on July 17, 1905, the son of Andrew and Agnes (SPEIRS) ADDISON. George received his education at Dinsdale School and later graduated from Iowa State University with a degree in Electrical Engineering. On May 11, 1929 George married Essie NELSON at Albert Lea, Minnesota and they first made their home in Marshalltown. They later moved to Dubuque, Iowa before moving back to farm near Dinsdale in 1933. In addition to farming, George was a member of Amity United Presbyterian Church, and had taken flying lessons when he 72 years old. He also enjoyed reading the Bible and visiting with his friends and neighbors. Essie’s death came on Feb. 7, 1998. George was recently admitted to Covenant Medical Center at Waterloo, where his death came on Sunday, September 15, 2002 at the age of 97 years. George was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Essie, a son Richard, one brother and two sisters. He is survived by two sons; George Jr. of Highland City, Florida, and Thomas of Port St. Joe, Florida, three daughters; Viola JOHNSON of Gainesville, Florida, Mary Ellen MULDOON of Fairbank, Iowa, Betty Jean KLOTZ of Greentop, MO as well as twelve grandchildren and seven great grandchildren.
Following the interment friends and family are invited to attend a luncheon in the church fellowship hall.
