Funeral services for Emojean Williams, 70, of Traer, were held Wednesday, July 9 at St. Luke Lutheran Church, Traer, with the Rev. Richard Nikolaisen officiating. Burial was in West Union Cemetery, Traer. She died Monday, July 7 at Methodist Hospital in Rochester, Minn., after an illness of several weeks.

Vocalist for the service was Ferd Kvidera and organsist was Mrs. Wesley Tomlinson. Casket bearers were John Felts, Vernon Hoeg, John Mumm, Bill Calderwood, Ernie Cufr, and Dick Mumm. On the flower committee were Julie Cufr and Sharlene Hoeg.

Born near Traer on December 12, 1915, Emojean was the daughter of Peter and Edith (Smith) Eckhardt. She received her education in country school and then worked for area farm families.

On March 23, 1935, she married Ward Williams. They farmed for many years in the Traer and Voorhies areas, until 1969 when Ward retired to Traer. Emojean continued to work at Vesely's Drive Inn for many years and more recently she worked from Mr. and Mrs. Bob Powell.

In her spare time, Emojean enjoyed cooking and baking. She was a member of St. Luke Lutheran Church, The 500 Club, and the Country Club.

Emojean was preceded in death by her husband, Ward, on February 16, 1971; three brothers, Fritz, Robert, and Dean, and one sister Marion.

She is survived by one son, Arlen of Traer; one daughter, Mrs. Ken (Maxine) Seeley of Waterloo; two sisters, Mrs. Leonard (Marjorie) Axon of Tripoli and Betty Sell of Traer; as well as six grandchildren.
