Funeral services for Marcella E. Wignall, 76, of Iowa City were held Monday, Jan. 11 at the United Methodist Church in Traer, with burial in Buckingham Cemetery. She died at Oaknoll Retirement Residence in Iowa City Friday, Jan.8, 1993.

Officiating at the service was the Rev. Martha Anderson. Organist was Judy Mason with Wayne Dunlavey serving as vocalist.

Casket bearers were John Clausen, Keith Johannsen, Craig Wignall, Robert Podhajsky, Stanley Novotny and Gene Clausen. Honorary bearers were Tim Podhajsky, Greg Podhajsky and Michael Weitzell.

Marlene Ingle and Mr. and Mrs. Gary Kruse were in charge of floral arrangements.

Marcella E. Wignall was born in Tama County Sept.14, 1916, the daughter of John and Albena (Delfs) Clausen. She received her education in a country school in Crystal Township and graduated from Traer High School in the class of 1935. She then began working as a switchboard operator at the Traer Telephone Company.

She was united in marriage to Kenneth M. Wignall on Sept.8, 1950. The couple made their home in Traer all their married life. Following her marriage Marcella continued to work for many years as a telephone operator.

In 1960 Marcella became librarian at the Traer Public Library, serving the community for many years.

She was an active member of the Methodist Church, United Methodist Women, and Iowana Club.

After Kenneth's death Dec.23, 1982, Marcella continued to make her home in Traer and in 1985 moved to Iowa City to be nearer her family.

Preceding her in death in addition to her parents and husband were two brothers and one sister.

She is survived by one son, Paul Wignall of Dallas, Texas; one daughter, Mrs. Stan (Patricia) Podhajsky of Iowa City; one sister Olinda Luethje of Gladbrook and three grandchildren.

Overton Funeral Service-Traer was in charge of arrangements.
