Bulletin Journal, Independence IA
Jan. 4, 1923 Pg 8

Word has been received here of the death of Mrs. Kit Kasson Thursday, December 18, in Wayne, Nebraska. The remains were taken to Toledo, Iowa for burial, her parents being buried there. Mrs. Kasson was a former resident of the First ward for many years and had many friends in her old home town. She went to Cando, N. D., several years ago, her son Earl G. residing there. Later they moved to Wayne, Neb. A sister of Mrs. Kasson resides in Cedar Rapids. Mr. Kasson died several years ago. Many friends here extend a real sympathy to the bereaved son and other relatives. Word received by W. C. Sanders, of Otterville, from Mr. and Mrs. John Grimsley, of Wayne, states that Mrs. Kasson died suddenly of heart failure, her illness being for about 12 hours. Her maiden name was Voorhees. She was a member of the Baptist church while here. She was the second wife of Mr. Kasson, who came to Independence in 1858.
