Agnes Eckhardt

Funeral services were held for Agnes M. Eckhardt, 68, of Traer, on Saturday, Nov. 21 at 10:30 a.m. at the St. Luke Lutheran Church with Rev. Rickard Nikolisen, pastor, officiating. Burial was in the West Union Cemetery, rural Traer.

She was born Dec. 19, 1912, at Tuttle, North Dakota, the daughter of Hans and Selma Suby Jacobson. Agnes received her education at Bismark, North Dakota graduating in the class of 1932.

She was working at Black’s Department Store in Waterloo, when she met and married Fritz Eckhardt at Nashua. Fritz and Agnes made their home on their farm south of Traer until Fritz’s death on April 27, 1977. Agnes then moved to her home at 611 First Street in Traer, where she has lived since that time.

On Wednesday evening, Nov. 18, Agnes became ill at her home and was taken by ambulance to Schoitz Hospital in Waterloo, where she died later that nght.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Fritz, and one son, Donald.

Agnes was a member of St. Luke Lutheran Church, the Friendly Neighbors Club and the Naomi Circle of the A. L. C. W.

She is survived by her two daughters, Teri, Mrs. Michael Kelly of Peshtigo, Wisc., and Nancy, Mrs. Dennis Yuska of Traer; three grandchildren; one brother, Helmer Jacobson of Caldwell, Idaho, and one sister, Mrs. Myrtle Hookie of Washington State.

Pallbearers were Jerry Eckhardt, Arlen Williams, Michael Axon, Peter Sell, John Axon, Max Kriz and Ronald Sell. The members of the flower committee were Mr. and Mrs. August Boldt and Mr. and Mrs. Milan Luedtke.
