Funeral services for Marlys ARP, 73, of Traer, were held Monday morning, Oct. 12, at the Overton Funeral Home in Traer with burial in Buckingham Cemetery, rural Traer. Mrs. Arp died Thursday, Oct. 8, 1992 at Covenant Medical Center in Waterloo.

Officiating at the service was the Rev. Rick Vesely, pastor of the United Presbyterian Church, with Beulah Whannel serving as organist and Jean Staker as vocalist.

Casket bearers were Brad BEHRNS, Brent BEHRNS, Roger Boerm, David Draper, Virgil Plogman and Dirk DAHMS.

Marlys M. ARP was born near Lincoln, Iowa, April 9, 1919, the daughter of Harry and Emma (BOLDT) DAHMS. At an early age Marlys moved with her family to Minnesota where she received her education in a country school, later returning to Iowa where she attended Gilman High School.

She was united in marriage to William ARP on July 16, 1936, at Waterloo. The couple made their home farming in Crystal Township, and later farmed near Toledo before making thier home at Gladbrook. In 1960 the couple moved to Traer.

Marlys was a homemaker and enjoyed spending time baking.

Preceding her in death were her parents and one brother Bob.

She is survived by her husband, William of Traer; one son, Larry W. ARP of Evansville, Ind.; one daughter, Mrs. Stan (Carole) BEHRNS of Elk River, Minn.; two brothers, Arlo DAHMS and Richard DAHMS, both of Traer; two sisters, Rosetta ECKHARDT of Traer and Loretta EATTENTON of Brandon, Miss., and two grandsons.
