Rites in Tama Saturday For Leonard Novak
Services for Leonard Novak, 53, who died early Wednesday morning, Nov. 4, at his farm home, east of Chelsea, were held Saturday afternoon in the First Baptist Church in Tama, with Rev. Paul DeVos, in charge of the 2:00 o'clock service. Mr. and Mrs. Donald Smith sang, accompanied on the organ by Mrs. John Kaloupek.
pallbearers were Adolph Poduska, Emil E. Behounek, William Smith, Don Erusha, Dale Johnson, and Roger Smith. Burial was in National cemetery, near Vining.
Born June 21, 1917, in Chelsea, he was the son of Charles and Julia Novak. He graduated from Chelsea high school in 1934 and was married to Elsie Lamb on June 26, 1938.
Along with his occupation of farming, he served on many boards in the community and county. He was an officer in the Farm Bureau, held offices in F.H.A. and A.S.C. and served as school director. He was also a director of Chelsea Savings Bank. He was a member of the First Baptist Church in Tama, having served in many offices of the church. He taught an adult Sunday school class many years and at the time of his death was on the official board and the deacon board of the church.
Survivors include his wife, his parents, a daughter, Mrs. Dale (Patricia) Willey, Keswick and a son, Leonard, Weatherford, Okla., four grandchildren; two brothers, Leo, Boulder, Colo. and Charles Novak Jr., SantaAna, Calif.
