John Bartachek

John Bartachek, long time resident of the Chelsea community, died January 23, 1926, at his home nine miles south of Chelsea, at the age of 83 years.

Mr. Bartachek was born in Bohemia 83 years ago, was reared to manhood in that country and was married there. Shortly after their marriage Mr. and Mrs. Bartachek came to America. They lived in Chelsea community for many years, and were highly esteemed. Mr. Bartachek was respected for his fine qualities of character, a devoted husband and father and a helpful neighbor.

Some years ago Mr. and Mrs. Bartachek removed to Chelsea, leaving their farm in charge of their children, Louis, Albert and Mary Bartachek. Mrs. Bartachek died about three years ago. Mr. Bartachek then returned to the farm to live with his children.

Mr. Bartachek is survived by nine children who are Mrs. Joseph (Lottie) Yaroushek of Austin, Minn., Joseph and Frank of Brooklyn, Charles and James of Near Chelsea, John of Chelsea, and Mary, Louis and Albert at home. Mr. Bartachek also leaves fifteen grandchildren and seven great grandchildren.

The funeral was held Monday from St. Joseph's Catholic Church at Chelsea, Rev. Father Dostal officiating. Burial was in St. Josepth Catholic cemetery, Chelsea. the pallbearers were: Chas. Upah, Frank Kupka, James Zeman, W.W. Kosta, John Dvorak and John Morek.
