Kaufman and Benedik Wedding

Wedding vows were exchanged between Miss. Kathryn Marie Benedik, daughter of Mr, and Mrs. Joseph C. Benedik of Chelsea, and George Michael Kaufman, son of Mr. and Mrs. Charles W. Kaufman of Tama, at 9a.m., August 12, 1958. Father V. J. Hulbek performed the double ring ceremony in St.Joseph's church in Chelsea. The brides father gave her in marriage. A bouquet of home grown flowers, which had been arranged by Arlene Koudelka, stood at each side of the altar.
The bride's gown was fashioned of hand-clipped chantilly lace and nylon tulle over bridal satin. It was designed with a molded lace bodice, a peter pan collar, and long tapered laced sleeves. The full skirt had alternate tiers of lace and crystal pleated tulle extending into a court train. She wore a "Sacred Heart" necklace, a gift of the bridegroom. Her bouquet was a cascade type of whole and feathered white carnations with a few sweetheart roses. The bride's veil, made by her mother, was of white nylon trimmed with white lace.
Matron of honor was Mrs. Patricia Kaufman of Tama, sister of the bridegroom. She wore a strapless pink lace gown over taffeta with a pink lace jacket. She carried a colonial bouquet of blue carniations in the center surrounded by white carnations. Three ribbons hanging from the bouquet contained blue feather carnations. Mrs. Kaufman wore a head band of white lace with blue flowers in the center.
Bridesmaids were Miss. Frances O'Connor of Kansas City, Mo. and Miss Marlene Bryan of Toleo, They were dressed identically in white lace gowns over aqua taffeta. They wore rhinestone necklaces and bracelets, gifts of the bride. Each carried a bouquet similar to that of the matron of honor. They wore headbands of white lace with pink flowers in the center.
Johnnie Stepanek of Toledo, uncle of the bride, was best man. Groomsmen were Charles Kaufman, Jr. and Paul Kaufman, brothers of the bridegroom, both of Tama.
Ushers were Charles Stepanek, Grinnell; Norman Drinovsky, traer; Edwin Pleshek and Paul Behounek, both of Chelsea. The ushers wore black ties and white handkerchiefs, gifts of the bidegrrom.
Flower girl was Carol Pleshek of Chelsea, a cousin of the bridegroom. Her attire, identical to that of the bridesmaids, was made by her mother.
Douglas Flanders of Toledo was the ring bearer.
The bride's mother wore a blue nylon laceover blue taffeta with white accessories. The dress was made by Mrs. Clara O'Connor. She worea corsage of three varigated pink and white carnations.
The bridegroom's mother wore a gray flowered silk dress with pink and beige accessories, and a corsage similar to that of the bride's mother.
Larry Pavlik of Chelsea a friend fo the bridegroom sang "On this day", "Oh beautiful Mother", "The Lords Prayer", and "Ave Maria". He was accompanied by Barbara Zmolek.
A reception followed the wedding at the American Legion hall in Tama.
