Son of Herbert A. and Hattie Saunders.

Enlisted Dec 12, 1917 at Des Moines; entered Great Lakes Naval Training Station; transferred to Camp Dewey, Camp Paul Jones; first entered Co. 81, Regt. 8; transferred to Co. F, 2nd Regt., and Co. F, 13th Regt.

Mustered out Feb 3, 1919.

In France May 2, 1918.

Second Class Seaman.
