My name is James A. Jones Jr. (Jim) and I am trying to learn about my ancestors from Iowa. Using a variety of US census records, I have traced my ancestors back to Isaac and Rebecca Jones who lived in the Ames Iowa area (possibly Story County) before the Civil War. I am planning to drive across country this summer and stop in Des Moines to see the grave of my grandfather, Frederick Edward Jones. On the way back, I'd like to stop in Ames or Des Moines and see if I can turn up any more information about any of these people.
I have posted this message in the hope that someone recognizes this family and can point me in the right direction for further research. In particular, I would like to find the obituaries for Isaac and Alba Jones and their spouses. I also wonder if Frederick's sister Echo, who married someone named Stoopes or Stoops, left any descendants who are still around and who can tell me about my grandfather.

I am the son of James A. Jones Sr.James A. Jones Sr. was born May 26, 1928 in New York City and died November 20, 1983 in Philadelphia. He married Florence Ellen Puelle (born February 29, 1927 in Brooklyn, NY, died March 3, 2004 in Norristown, PA). They had two sons, James A. Jr., born September 1, 1953, and Robert John, born June 14, 1955.
James A. Jones Sr. was the son of Frederick Edward Jones.
Frederick ("Freddie") was born Sept. 8, 1893 in Cambridge, Iowa and died Sept. 30, 1957 in the Des Moines VA Hospital. Frederick married Bessie on June 17, 1915 and divorced her less than a year later on February 10, 1916. Later, Frederick married Grace McGinniss some time between 1924-1928 and they separated within a few years. Their only son was James Albert Jones.
Frederick Edward Jones was the son of Alba Jones.
Alba was born in 1864 or 1865 in Story County, Iowa. Alba married Mary G. Burton (born in 1873 in Story County, Iowa to John W. & Frances J. Burton) about 1894. Their children were Frederick Edward (born 1893 in Iowa) and Echo (born 1897 in Iowa).
Alba Jones was the son of Isaac Jones.
Isaac was born in New York or Pennsylvania about 1811. Isaac married Rebecca, who was born in Kentucky about 1829. Their children included David (born in 1844 in Pennsylvania), Samuel (born in 1852 in Illinois), Elizabeth (born in 1853 in Illinois), James (born in 1855 in Iowa), Robert (born in 1858 in Iowa), Amanda (born in 1859 or 1860 in Iowa), Alba (born in 1864 or 1865 in Iowa) and Henretta (born in 1866 or 1867
