From the Nevada Evening Journal Centennial Edition -- June 13, 1953, Vol. 59, No. 64, Page 12
Original article published April 5, 1907Today Peter E. Shugart is shipping out his railway outfit and will soon be at work on the Milwaukee extension in the Dakotas. While Shugart has been doing a large amount of work on the Milwaukee extension for the past couple of seasons he has a contract for seventy-five miles of work yet to be completed this season. To accomplish this work one not familiar with this work would have little idea of what it means.
Shugart will ship a hundred teams from here, where he has been wintering them, as well as a carload of harness. Besides these he will have in the neightborhood of four hundred teams that have been wintering in the north on the job, making in all five-hundred teams that he will look after himself.
Besides these he will sublet a part of the work. There will, in all probability, in all of Shugart's camps along the Milwaukee extention [sic], be from seven to eight hundred men working directly under him, besides the various sub-contractors. The outfit to go from here is being loaded at Cambridge today. A number of Nevada men will ship up with him and work there during the season.
