AMES -- General Lincoln has received word from his son, Capt. Charles L. Lincoln of company L, 2nd Infantry, now in service in the Phillipine Islands, that his company won first place in a big military meet held recently at Manilla. Capt. Lincoln's company was selected to represent the regiment after a competitive drill, but with no special preparations previous to the tie of the drill. At Manilla, the meet was divided into ten events, which were participated in by a large number of companies from the different regiments of the Island, with the result that Capt. Lincoln's company won the honor of first place.
