Sorry --- I did not include the end of Alice Thornton's obituary. She had a son, Alfred Oxley who is also deceased and had no descendants.

Survivors include a son, Alfred Oxley of Colo. She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband in 1985.

Here is the obituary for Alice's son, Alfred Ray Oxley:

March 20, 1947 -- January 24, 2008

Alfred “Fred” Oxley, 60, of 312 West 8th Street in Boone passed away at the Boone County Hospital in Boone on Thursday morning, January 24, 2008. He was born on March 20, 1947, in Ames, Iowa the son of Howard and Alice (Shearer) Oxley. Fred attended school at Colo, Iowa. He was a veteran serving with the U.S. Army during the Viet Nam Conflict until his discharge. For over 30 years he was an over the road truck driver. He was employed with Jack Vincent for Best Lines and for 15 years was a lease operator, driving for Roger Morberg at SAV until December of 2002, when poor health forced him to retire. Fred enjoyed putting puzzles together and gluing them together to make hanging wall pictures. He also enjoyed watching TV, talking about his trucking trips and travels throughout the United States, and loved to make people laugh with his sense of humor and teasing. Fred liked to help others out and see them become successful, enjoyed cooking for others and loved to spoil his dog “Jade”.

His mother, Alice; stepfather, Dale and grandparents preceded him in death. Survivors include his best friend and care taker for the past 5 years Joe Powell of Boone, Iowa; father Howard Oxley and his wife Wilma of Nevada, Iowa; 2 half-sisters Jean Ann Shaw of Boone, Iowa and Joy Page and her husband John of Nevada, Iowa; 3 half-brothers Butch Oxley and his wife Cindy, Bruce Oxley and his wife Julie and Howard Owen Oxley all of Nevada, Iowa; aunts; uncles; nieces; nephews; 3 great-nephews; 6 great-nieces and numerous friends. The body has been cremated. There will be no visitations. Graveside services and interment with full military honors conducted by the Veterans Council of Boone will be held on Tuesday morning, January 29th at 10:00 A.M. at the Rose Hill Cemetery west of Boone, Iowa with Envoy Tim North officiating. Stark-Welin Funeral Directors is caring for the family and the arrangements.
