THE AMES TRIBUNE, Ames, Story County, Iowa, Tuesday, January 10, 2006.

Jeffrey Alan Hetland, 45, of Dardanelle, Ark., died Sunday, Dec. 25, at UAMS Medical Center in Little Rock. Funeral services were Dec. 29 at St. John's Lutheran Church in Russellville, Ark. Burial was in Brearley Cemetery in Dardanelle Ark.

Jeff was born Dec. 1, 1960, in Webster City to Sharon and Vernon Hetland. He graduated from Ames High School, attended Arkansas Tech University and UCA in Conway, where he earned a master's degree. He was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church in Russellville.

He is survived by his wife, Kay Champion Hetland of Dardanelle, Ark.; one son, Aaron Silas Hetland of Dardanelle; his mother and stepfather, Sharon and Lyle Hawkins of Dardanelle; his father and stepmother, Vernon and Sandy Hetland of Webster City; a half sister, Dawn Hetland of Des Moines; two stepsisters and their husbands, Suzanne and Richard Gatewood of Russellville, Cindy and Michael Farzley of Little Rock, Ark.; his maternal grandparents, Carl and Gwyn Ruhl of Dardanelle, two uncles, David Ruhl and wife, Connie, of Dardanelle, and Jerry Ruhl of Blairsburg; one brother-in-law, Tom Champion, and several cousins.

He was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Silas and Beatrice Hetland, and an uncle, Rodney Ruhl.

Cornwell Funeral Home of Dardanelle, Ark., was in charge of arrangements.
