Lyda E. Olson, whose death occurred at her home in Story City Tuesday, Jan. 9, was born at Leland, Ill., July 18, 1870. She thus reached the age of 63 1/2 years.

She came to Iowa in 1882 with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Frederic Olson, and lived with them on their farm north of town until the family moved to Story City in 1919.

She had not been in robust health for some time, but was apparently seriously sick only a few days. Death came as a great shock to her friends, of whom she had gained many a life time of kindly living.

Funeral services were held Jan. 12 in the St. Petri church, Rev. Scarvie officiating and the choir rendering the songs. The pall bearers were: Peter Quam, Orville Owenson, Wier Erickson, Sam Jacobson, T. Z. and M. H. Henryson.

Those from a distance at the funeral were: M. V. Butler of Des Moines, Mrs. Angie Holliday of Peoria, ill., Mr. and Mrs. Allie Butler and daughter of Shabbona, Ill., and Mrs. Curtis of Stuart.
