Bokman Oppen Died at Sunset Home Saturday
Bokman Oppen, for eight years a member of the local old people's home, died at that place last Saturday and funeral services were held Tuesday. Mr. Molstre, superintendent of the home, has prepared the following obituary:
"Bokman Oppen was born in Kragero, Norway, Aug. 5, 1849. He immigrated from Norway 42 years ago and settled at Newman Grove, Neb. His wife died ten years ag and was buried at Newman Grove.
Left alone and with neither children nor relatives, he became very lonesome, and his eyesight failing him, his pastor urged him to enter the Story City Old People's Home, and on Oct. 24, 1924, he entered our Home, and has remained here until he passed away Saturday, Oct. 7, at 9:45 a.m. at the age of 84 years.
He was buried Tuesday, Oct. 10, from our chapel and laid to rest in Fairview cemetery. Rev. Heimarck officiated.
"Mr. Oppen was a man of few words and never tried to offend anyone, and he will be missed by us all. Blessed by his memory."
SUBMITTER'S NOTE: Bokman Oppen was the son of Otto and Marie (Iverson) Oppen. He was also known as Christian Bochmann Ottesen/Otteson.
