LIVED AND DIED ON OLD HOME PLACE
Mrs. S. S. Wierson Had Lived on Same Farm All Her Life
Mrs. Emily Wierson (nee Ericson) was born Oct. 25, 1867, and died at her home near Story City Sept. 30, 1933.
After and apparent attack of the flu, in the early part of the year, Mr. Wierson's strength began to fail and it soon became evident that her ailment was of a malignant nature. The best of medical help was sought but of no avail.
Emily Ericson was baptized and confirmed by Rev. N. Amlund, into the St. Petri congregation, of which she has remained a faithful member up to the time of her death, always willing to support, by means and work, the activities of her church.
She was married to Samson S. Wierson May 28, 1892, also by Rev. Amlund. To this union five children were born.
Mrs. Wierson was bornin a small log cabin, on the homestead where she has spent her entire life. Her parents were Thor and Sara Ericson. Not so many years passed before the log cabin was replaced by a small frame structure, to which a first addition was built, and again a second addition.
In 1914 the Wiersons built a large modern home on the same site. In their home on the Wiersons have reared, not only their children, but also two grandchildren. Here, too, Mother Ericson, when she no longer could care for herself, went back to her former home where she was tenderly cared for during her declining years.
During a period of three years, members of four generations lived in this home.
Two children preceded their mother in death: Julia (Mrs. S. J. Wierson) and Willard.
She is survived by her husband; two sons, Theroy and John; one daughter, Vernia; three grandchildren, Thelma, Clifford and John; one brother, E. L. Ericson, all of Story City and one sister, Mrs. Helen Hanson of Jewell.
Mrs. Wierson had a host of neighbors and friends who will miss her very much. Truly, a good wife, mother, grandmother, sister and neighbor is gone. Blessed be her memory.
Funeral services were held in the St. Petri church Tuesday, Oct. 3, with Rev. Scarvie officiating and a large number of relatives and friends in attendance. The choir rendered two numbers and Rev. Scarvie sang, as a solo, "Den stor hvide Flok." The pallbearers were: Bert Hill, A. G. Larson, Walter Hermanson, Albert S. Larson, L. C. Kahrs and J. C. Johnson. Interment was in the family lot in Fairview cemetery.
