DEATH OF OLE GAARD
Former Story City Boy Died at His Home in Marshalltown
(From Marshalltown T.-R.)Ole A. Gaard, 42m 897 May st., cashier and valued employee of the Wester Grocer Mills, and a former M. & St. L. agent at Roland, died at the home at 11:20 Saturday night of pneumonia. He had been sick for only a week.
Mr. Gaard had been in the employ of the mills for ten years, entering its service as an office clerk in 1911. He was promoted from time to time until he was made cashier, and office he had occupied for several years. Before coming to this city Mr. Gaard was agent for the M. & St. L. at Roland, his former home, for six years.
Mr. Gaard was a native of Stavanger, Norway. He was born June 15, 1878 and when 3 years old his parents brought him with them to the United States. They settled at Story City where the boy was reared.
He was united in marriage with Miss Della Moses of Story City, in this city August 16, 1905. The widow and three children, Harold, 14; Ielene, 11; and Emory, 10; survive him as do his mother, Mrs. G. Skogerboe, and two brothers. The latter are Ben of Stanhope and J. T. of Roland. Mr. Gaard was a member of the Yeoman lodge.
The funeral was held from the residence Tuesday afternoon.
