OBITUARY

Hans Jensen

Hans Jensen was born in Denmark Nov. 23, 1833, where he was baptized and as a youth confirmed.

In 1861 he was married to Maren Sorenson. This union was blessed with nine children, six boys and three girls, namely, Dr. P. Jensen of Knoxville, Iowa; Mr. Fred Jensen, Mrs. James Wiggins and Mrs. N. M. P. Johnson of Story City; Dr. H. Jensen and V. Jensen of Kansas City; E. A. Jensen and W. D. Jensen of Taylor, Neb., and Mrs. A. Christenson of Copenhagen, Denmark. His wife died in Denmark and in 1892 he immigrated to this country and located at Story City where he also spent his last years at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Johnson.

He always seemed physically strong, but old age weakened him and he fell asleep on Wednesday, March 1, 1921 at the advanced age of 87 years, 3 months and 7 days.

He leaves to mourn, not only his children and grandchildren but many acquaintances and friends.

Funeral services were held in the Grace church Saturday afternoon, Rev. Smith officiating. Interment was in the local cemetery.

The relatives from out of town who were present at the funeral were: Drs. P. Jensen of Knoxville and H. Jensen of Kansas City, Mr. and Mrs. Lawrence Jensen of Carroll and Carmi Jensen, Carroll.
