OBITUARY
James A. Wiggins
James A. Wiggins was born December 9, 1836, at Barton village, Vermont, and died at Story City April 10, 1918, having attained the age of 81 years, 4 months and one day.
On December 9, 1855, he was married to Lodosca Merrill. To this union was born four children; three boys, Charles, who died in 1903; Edwin of Snohomish, Wash., and George of Story City, and one daughter, Nellie, of Toledo, Iowa.
On June 19, 1862, he enlisted as a volunteer in the civil war, becoming a member of Company E, 9th Vermont, from which, after serving his country for two years, he received his honorable discharge.
He came to Iowa in 1865 and after having resided at different places finally came to Story City, where his wife died the last of March, 1893.
On October 9, 1894, Mr. Wiggins was married the second time to Dagmar Simonson of Story City, the ceremony being performed by Rev. L. N. Day. To this union was born one daughter, Sarah, and a couple of years ago he and his wife adopted an infant boy, Warren Jennings.
Besides his wife and children enumerated above Mr. Wiggins is survived by four brothers, two sisters, an aged stepmother, one stepdaughter, fifteen grandchildre and eight great grandchildren.
