Obituary.

Joseph W. Sheffield was born Sept. 5, 1834, Wayne county, N. Y., and died at his home southeast of town Dec. 14, 1905, aged 71 years. He moved with his parents to Illinois at the age of two years where he grew to manhood. He was married to Jane M. Blasdall, Nov. 6, 1859, who departed this life in 1879. He was again married in 1884 to Lou L. Turnbull who with five children, born to this union, Charles B., John N., Milton J., Mrs. Alice M. Ferguson and Mrs. Harriet E. Pagels, survive him. He was afflicted with cancer of the face about two and a half years ago which finally caused his death. Though his sufferings were intense at times he was patient and uncomplaining, cheerful and hopeful to the last. Joseph Sheffield was a kind father and husband, a good citizen, friend and neighbor and he will be sadly missed in the home and neighborhood.

The funeral services were held at the home Friday afternoon, conducted by Rev. Yerger. The body was interred in the Sheffield cemetery.
