OBITUARY

CARL JONATHAN OSWALD

Carl Jonathan Oswald was born near Story City, Nov. 22, 1899 and died of appendicitis Jan. 14, 1913, at the home of his parents M. M. Oswald and wife in Boone, thus being 13 years, 1 month and 22 days. Besides his parents he leaves three sisters, Amelia, Mabel and Beulah and many other relatives and friends to mourn his loss. He was a grandson of Mr. and Mrs. John Oswald.

Carl had been sick but a day or so and no one realized that his condition was so serious until a short time before death ensued Wednesday forenoon. Short services were held at the house by Rev. Stado Munneke of the Presbyterian church after which the remains were taken to the John Oswald home near Story City. On Thursday afternoon at 2 o'clock the funeral was held at the Center schoolhouse, Rev. L. J. U. Smay of the Evangelical church officiating. The remains were laid to rest in the Center cemetery.
