PIONEER CITIZEN DIED AT HIGH AGE
Ole M. Olson, 87 Years Old, Was Laid to Rest Monday
Ole M. Olson was born December 27, 1841, at Mehus, Mauranger, Norway, and died May 31, 1929, at Story City, Iowa, being 87 years, 5 months and 3 days of age.
He came to this country in 1862 and settled in Clinton county, Iowa. Here he married Anna Hanson Storjerde in 1868, to which union was born three children, namely, Hans, Mrs. Anna Hunter of Story City, and Ole of Westbrook, Minn. In 1878 they moved to Story City where they settled on a farm five miles southwest of town. His wife died a few years after moving here.
On April 5, 1886, he married Mrs. Martha Roe Amundson of Roland, Iowa. Five children were born to this union, Christian Olson Mehuse of Sarles, N. D., Martin and Louise of Story City and two who died in infancy. In 1902 the family moved to their present home in Story City.
Besides the wife, children, and five grandchildren, he leaves two brothers and one sister, Tom Olson of Storden, Minn., Andrew Olson of Heron Lake, Minn., and Mrs. Martha Peterson of Blairstown, Iowa.
Funeral services were held on Monday, at the home and in the Immanuel church, Rev. T. T. Heimarck officiating. Relatives and friends from out of town who were present at the funeral were: Mr. and Mrs. C. O. Mehuse and Vernieta of Sarles, N. D., O. J. Ohlson of Westbrook, Minn., Fern Hunter of Des Moines, Mr. and Mrs. Andrew Olson, Mr. and Mrs. Torres Bondhus of Heron Lake, Minn., Tom Olson of Storden, Minn., Mr. and Mrs. O. F. Gunderson of Eagle Grove, Lars Peterson of Blairstown, Mr. and Mrs. Pete Peterson of Woodward, Mrs. A. E. Hines and Sidney of Elkton, Minn., Ole O. Roe, Mr. and Mrs. Martin Roe of Des Moines, Chas. Roe of Carson, Mrs. John Burkhart and son, Mr. and Mrs. Harvey Hoffa of Marshalltown, Mr. and Mrs. George Askelson, Mr. and Mrs. Ed Sinn of Gilbert, Mrs. I. M. Cole, Mrs. Henry Thompson and Mrs. Ole Twedt of Roland.
Besides the large tribute of flowers from relatives and friends, Mr. and Mrs. Andrew Olson, a brother of the deceased, gave some money to the Old People's Home in his memory.
