ALBERT SOWERS WAS NATIVE IOWAN
Albert Sowers, son of Linsey and Rebecca Sowers, was born in Ellsworth township, Hamilton Co., Iowa, on March 28, 1865, and departed this earthly life June 4th, 1929, aged 64 years, 2 months and 7 days.
March 20, 1888, he was united in marriage to Maria E. Scott. To this union were born eight children, three of whom preceded the father in death: one in infancy, one at the age of four, and Mrs. Florence Anderson in 1922. Those living to mourn his loss are the bereaved widow; five children, Alvin J., Story City; Mrs. Grace Anderson, Story City; Earl L., St. James, Minn.; and Albert W. and Clarence P., both of Story City. There are two brothers living, Guy and Charley, both of Randall; also three grandchildren.
Mr. Sowers was of pioneer stock, his people moving here in the early days of '55 when Story City was as yet a very small town. He has lived on the present Sowers farm one and one-fourth miles from where he was born, for 37 years, having lived in the one township all of his life.
Mr. Sowers was a man of sterling character, well thought of by his many friends and neighbors, who say that he was a man who lived by the Golden Rule; his word was as good as his note, and that he always did more for the other person than for himself. He was one of those men who help build a community.
The funeral was held from the Grace church, Thursday, June 6, at 2 p.m., with the pastor in charge, assisted by Rev. Wendel of Radcliffe. Interment was made at the Fairview cemetery.
