OBITUARY

Abel H. Hougland [sic]

Abel Hanson Hougland [sic] was born in Uskedal, Norway, August 16, 1839, and died at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Tesdall in Story City on May 10, 1923, having reached the ripe age of 83 years, 8 months and 24 days.

He was married Nov. 1, 1879, to Joren Olsen Grinde and they immigrated to America in 1881, settling in Story City. Seven children were born to this union, on of whom died in infancy. The surviving children are: Mrs. Lars Tesdall, Hans, Mrs. Carl Houge, Abel, Rangval and Lars. His wife died Feb. 26, 1918. Besides his six children he leaves 30 grandchildren to mourn his death.

Funeral services were held in the Immanuel church May 12, conducted by Rev. Heimarck, an the remains were laid to res beside his wife in the Fairview cemetery, there to await the call that shall go forth on the morn of the resurrection.
