SLATER

Our town was much shocked Saturday morning on learning of the death of Mrs. Julia Thompson, wife of Lars Thompson. While it is true that deceased had been in a critical condition for years, being a sufferer from heart disease, no immediate warning had been given of her death. In usual health last Friday, she went about her daily household duties. Retiring rather later than usual in the evening, she seemed to get rest. Later in the night, Mr. Thompson awakened, perhaps by light and almost inaudible groans found her in the throes of death. In a minute life was extinct and the soul had left its tenement of clay and gone to inherit the glory and enjoy the promised rest in Christ Jesus. Deceased was born in Norway in 1843. At an early age, with her parents, she crossed the Atlantic and made her home in this country. In 1866 she was married to Lars Thompson and he together with five children is left to mourn the loss of a model wife and a loving and tender mother. A large concourse of relatives and friends gathered at the house last Sunday afternoon to accompany the remains to their last resting place.
