Funeral Rites for Wier Ritland Held at St. Petri Church

Huxley, March 13--Funeral services for the late Wier Ritland who died at his home in Huxley Friday, March 5th, 1943 were held at the Fjeldberg church at 2 o'clock Tuesday afternoon, after a brief prayer service for the family in the home.

The services were in charge of his pastor, Rev. Perry Sampson. A hymn, "From Place to Place a Christian Goes," was sung by the audience. Two vocal duets, "Tired," and "God's Way is the Best Way," were sung by Mrs. Roy Elliott and Mrs. Oscar Ritland, accompanied at the organ by Miss Ruth Racek.

Rev. Sampson based his text on part of the 12th chapter of Luke, "Be yw therefore ready also, for the son of man cometh at an hour when ye think not." A sum of money was given to the "Ebenezer Old People's Home" in Minneapolis, to the local budget for the pipe organ, and to missions, by relatives and friends in his memory. He was a devoted husband and father.
