Funeral Services Held for Mrs. Lawrence Alvis

Funeral services were held for Mrs. Lawrence Alvis on Tuesday, Apr. 26, at 1:30 p.m. at Fjeldberg Lutheran Church. Pastor Merlin Norris officiated using the text Isaiah 12:2-4.

The congregation sang "What A Friend We Have In Jesus" and Arlin Severson sang "The Old Rugged Cross" and "How Great Thou Art" accompanied by the organist Mrs. Jacob Lee.

Pallbearers were: Ole Legvold, Palmer Severaid, Paul Sayers, Komer Johnson, Jr., Kenneth Patterson and LeRoy Anderson.

Interment was in Fjeldberg Cemetery.

Obituary

Anna Mae Lee Alvis was born at Auburn, Ia., on Sept. 5, 1906, to parents, Lewis and Elizabeth Lee. She was the youngest of a family of 12 children. She graduated from Auburn High School in 1924 and attended college at Sac City and Des Moines. She taught school for many years and later served as a substitute teacher at Polk City and Huxley. She was married to Lawrence Alvis on June 4, 1938, at Farnhamville, Ia.

They moved to Huxley from Polk City in 1947. She was a member of Fjeldberg Lutheran Church where she served faithfully in several organizations.

Anna Mae passed away at Mary Greeley Hospital in Ames on Sunday, Apr. 24 from a heart ailment.

She is survived by her husband, Lawrence, one sister, Rachel Edgington of Mason City and many nieces and nephews and friends.
