OBITUARY OF THOR BARNES
Thor Barnes was born in Story county, Iowa on March 12, 1868, and died at his home five miles south of Huxley, Iowa, on April 20, 1928, reaching the age of 60 years, 1 month and 7 days. He was united in marriage to Miss Thea Jondall of Story City, Iowa, on May 25, 1922. To this union were born two sons, the first of whom passed away when only a few days old. The youngest one, Theodore, survives him.
Deceased was one of the eleven children Haldor and Anna Barnes. He grew up in the community comprising southern Story and northern Polk counties and was well and favorably known. He worked industriously and with good judgment and prospered and was the owner of a very desirable Polk county farm at the time of his death, a place where he had made his home for many year. He early affiliated himself with the church and was always interested in its success and what it stood for.
Besides his wife and young son he is mourned by five brothers and sisters. They are as follows: Mrs. Cecelia Hot of Story City, Iowa, Mrs. Dena Overland of Los Angeles, California, Mrs. Carrie Sundall of New Richmond, Wisconsin, George Barnes of south of Huxley and Sam Barnes of near Alleman. Besides these near relatives he is mourned by many other relatives and a large circle of friends.
