Mrs. P. C. Birkelo Passes On

Died Suddenly at a Hospital at La Crosse, Wisconsin--Buried at Huxley

The Huxley community was saddened last week when the news came from Scarville, Iowa, telling of the death of Mrs. P. C. Birkelo, the wife of Rev. Birkelo, a former pastor of the Fieldberg church at Huxley. She died at a hospital at La Crosse, Wisconsin, where she had been taken for treatment a few weeks previously. Death followed a serious operation.

Funeral services were held Sunday afternoon from the Fieldberg church at Huxley with President Boe of St. Olaf College preaching the sermon. He was assisted by Revs. J. N. Anderson, Peder Buland and S. J. Fretheim, the latter her pastor at Scarville. Singing completed the impressive service. Burial was made in the Fieldberg cemetery.

She is survived by her husband, two daughters, two sons, six grandchildren and a host of friends--at Scarville, Huxley and other points. Rev. Birkelo, the husband, having retired from the ministry due to failing health, the family had been living at Scarville, Iowa.
