Semelia Mickelson Rites Held Friday

Funeral services for Miss Semelia Mickelson were held Friday afternoon at the Riis Funeral Home.

Pastor Harry Stoutland was in charge of services.

Lester Moore, soloist, sang "The Old Rugged Cross" and "Rock of Ages." He was accompanied by Mrs. Robert Newman at the piano.

Pallbearers were Ed Sydnes, Henry Ehm, Gilbert Winkelmann, Harold Ersland, Albert Alleman and Everett Twit.

Interment was in the Bethlehem Cemetery.

Obituary

Miss Semelia Mickelson was born on a farm east of Slater on Feb. 7, 1893. Her parents were Knute and Anna Mickelson. She passed away on Tuesday, Aug. 6 at the Iowa Lutheran Hospital in Des Moines at the age of 64 years, 5 months and 30 days, after being ill for some time with cancer and complications.

Her parents and a brother preceded her in death.

Surviving are two brothers, Mike of Slater and Elias of Ames, and many other relatives and friends.

Miss Mickelson was a life-time member of the Bethlehem Lutheran Church. She was a graduate of Slater High School and also of a business college in Des Moines.

Since her mother died on Nov. 4, 1937, Miss Mickelson and her brother, Mike, had been living on the home farm, east of Slater.
