Last Rites Held for Elias Mickelson, 78

Services for Elias Mickelson, 78, were held Wednesday afternoon at the Bethlehem Lutheran Church at 2 p. m.

Pastor W. A. Adix was in charge of the services, choosing Romans 6:23 as his sermon text.

Nilus Ihle sang "The Lord Is My Shepherd" and "My Faith Looks Up to Thee." He was accompanied by the organist, Mrs. Robert Newman.

Pallbearers were Oley Houge, Oley Ryan, Everett Twit, Frank Lowman, Howard Estrem and Harold Ersland.

Interment was in the Bethlehem Cemetery.

Obituary

Elias Mickelson was born 1 1/2 miles east of Slater Dec. 12, 1886, the son of Knute Mickelson and Anna Fronsdahl Mickelson. He passed away at the Mary Greeley Hospital in Ames Jan. 24, 1965, after a month's illness.

He was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran faith and was a lifetime member of the Bethlehem Lutheran Church. He lived in this community where he farmed until 1945, when he sold his farm and moved to Ames in 1946, where he has since resided.

His interests were travel, music and art. He had traveled extensively in the U.S. and foreign countries.

He is survived by one brother, Mike of Slater, several cousins and a host of friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents; one brother, Brown, and a sister, Semelia.
