Dorothy J. Ersland, 101, formerly of Huxley, died Monday, October 4, 2004 at Madrid Home Services will be 1:30 p.m., October 8 at Madrid Home Chapel, with Rev. Carla Werre officiating. Burial will be at Bethlehem Cemetery in Slater.

Dorothy was born November 18, 1902 in Des Moines, Iowa, to Martin and Ellen (Anderson) Lundquist. She married Harold Ersland in 1925 and they moved to Slater in 1965. Dorothy was secretary for the Assistant Secretary of Agriculture, retiring in 1964 and later farmed with her husband. She had an interest in politics and was a member of Bethlehem Lutheran Church and Slater Music and Study Club.

She is survived by two daughters, Jo (Rollie) Brownell of Des Moines and Martelle (Peter) Onstad of Burnsville, MN; four grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Harold; brother, Leonard Lundquist; and sister, Mildred Urfer.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Madrid Home of Bethlehem Lutheran Church. Arrangements by Soderstrum-Riis Funeral Home in Slater.
