Last Rites Held for Mrs. Margaret Croft

Funeral services for Mrs. Margaret Croft were held at Riis Funeral Home on Friday, Nov. 22 at 1:30 p. m.

Rev. Glen Drew pastor of the United Methodist Church conducted the services and chose II Cor. 4:13-18 as the text for his sermon. Rev. Pernie Pederson of Bethany Manor in Story City in a brief message paid tribute to Mrs. Croft for her positive Christian influence while a member of the Bethany Manor family.

Mrs. R. A. Stoll was the soloist and sang "Savior, Like a Shepherd Lead Us." Mrs. Oliver Newman served as organist and also accompanied Mrs. Stoll.

Serving as the pallbearers were Morrill Nervig, Shelby Chader, Phillip Rood, Jonas Christianson, Donald Peterson and L. P. Earp.

Interment was in the Slater Municipal Cemetery.

Obituary

Mrs. Margaret Croft was born Dec. 25, 1876 in Polk County. Her parents were John and Mary Johnson. She passed away at Bethany Manor in Story City on Wednesday morning Nov. 20, 1968 and would have been 92 years old on Christmas Day.

Most of her life was spent in Slater. She was united in marriage to Ed Croft, a pioneer Slater business man for many years. They were faithful members of the Slater Methodist Church through all those years. Mrs. Croft was especially interested in the cause of foreign missions. After the death of her husband, Mrs. Croft continued to live in her home here for a time and then moved to Bethany Manor in Story City where she was a resident for the past 13 years. She remained alert and active eve as her physical health gradually declined.

She was preceded in death by her parents her husband, her sister, Mrs. Pearl Nelson and her brothers, Al and Swan.

Surviving her are two sons Harold of Slater and Hugh of Estherville, five grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren and other relatives and friends.
