MRS. HOWARD ESTREM

SLATER--Funeral services for Mrs. Howard Estrem were held Monday afternoon with a prayer service at the Riis Funeral Home at 1:30 and at the Bethlehem Lutheran Church at 2 p. m. with the Rev. Leo O. Bjorlie in charge. Pastor Robert Larson of the Bethesda Lutheran Church in Ames assisted with the services.

Robert Weeks sang "Softly and Tenderly" and Mrs. Lester Becker sang "Beyond the Sunset" and "In the Garden." They were accompanied by the organist, Mrs. Oliver Newman.

The floral tributes were beautiful and there were many gifts to worthy causes in memory of Mrs. Estrem.

Pallbearers were Alvin Estrem, Charles Estrem, Herbert Ritland, William Weeks, Wayne Rimathe and Eldon Johnson. Interment was in the Slater Municipal cemetery south of Slater.

Life Sketch

Lydia Beatrice, daughter of Casper and Rachel Rimathe was born on June 1, 1895 in Polk county, Iowa, and died at the Mary Greeley Hospital in Ames, July 3 at the age of 64 years, one month and two days.

She was baptized in the German Lutheran church near Alleman and confirmed on April 11, 1909 in St. Lukes Lutheran church.

She was married to Howard Estrem on Feb. 19, 1914 and they moved to the farm northwest of Slater where they had lived for 45 years. To this union was born one son and three daughters, Casper of Slater, Mrs. Rachel Lowman of Kelley and Mrs. Hazel Houge and Mrs. Lucille Accola of Ames.

Survivors include her husband, Howard; four children; 14 grandchildren; and two great grandchildren. Also surviving are two sisters and two brothers, Mrs. Thomas Weeks, Mrs. Obed Johnson and Edwin and Raymond Rimathe and a large number of relatives and friends.

Mrs. Estrem had been a member of the Lutheran church her entire life and an active member of the women's organizations of the church.
