AND AGAIN THE FINAL ROLL CALL
Mr. O. M. Neslund Is Laid To Rest in the Slater Cemetery--Funeral Saturday.
The funeral over the remains of Mr. O. M. Neslund, whose death was mentioned in these columns last week, was held from the Bethlehem church last Saturday afternoon. There was a general attendance and the large church was about filled. The services were in charge of Rev. Gustaf Sword, a Swedish Baptist minister of Des Moines. Burial was made in the Slater city cemetery. The floral beautiful offerings were many and very beautiful, showing the marked love and esteem in which the deceased was held by neighbors and friends as well as relatives. A mixed choir furnished some appropriate music and Rev. Bjorlie and Supt. Penrod sang a beautiful duet, which was highly appreciated by everybody present, especially the mourners.
Deceased was born in Sweden in the year of 1853 and would have been sixty-six years old the next September. He came to America in the year of 1867, he being then fourteen years of age. He was married in 1885, his bride being Miss Bertha Larson. The ceremony took place in Boone county, where the Neslunds lived practically their entire life. To this union were born four children. They are sons Clarence, Alvin and Arthur and daughter Mildred. Deceased was a prosperous, successful farmer and always stood high in the community, having the good will and respect of all that made is acquaintance. While robust and a hard worker, he continued in good health till over a year, when he became seriously ill. From that time his health continued to fail and he continued feeble till last Wednesday, the 19th, when he answered that final roll call and was no more.
He is survived by a faithful wife and the four children mentioned above. Other immediate mourners in attendance at the funeral were a sister of the deceased, Mrs. Redberg, of Des Moines, and a cousin, Mrs. J. B. Larson of Kansas City. Others present from a distance were Mrs. E. J. Peterson of Fort Dodge, Miss Olive and Mr. Carl Redberg, Mrs. O. J. Beck and Mr. P. Peterson, all of Des Moines.
