Funeral Services For Mrs. Rimathe

Funeral services for Mrs. Rachel Rimathe, who passed away June 25, were held at the Riis Funeral Home Thursday, June 27 at 1:30 o'clock and the Bethlehem Lutheran Church at 2 p. m.

At the funeral home there was a short prayer service and a duet, "The Old Rugged Cross," by Mr. and Mrs. Glen Accola.

The services at the church were in charge of Pastor Leo Bjorlie, who preached the sermon. There were two vocal numbers--a solo, "Beyond the Sunset," by Nilus Ihle, and a duet, "Living for Jesus," by Mr. and Mrs. Glen Accola. Pastor E. R. Rorem of Story City assisted in the service.

The flowers were arranged by Mrs. Nella Ihle and Mrs. Herman Swanson of Madrid. A number of gifts of money were given in Mrs. Rimathe's memory by relatives and friends.

Pallbearers were Wm. Weeks, Robert Weeks, Cap Estrem, Wayne Rimathe, Dr. Wayne Severson and Loyal Lowman.

Burial was in the Slater Cemetery.

Obituary

Mrs. Rachel Rimathe, daughter of Torres and Beatrice Ryen, was born on a farm near Slater on Mar. 21, 1874, and died June 25 at Young's Rest Home in Ames, at the age of 83 years, 3 months and 4 days.

She suffered a stroke in December, 1952 and had been confined in a nursing home since.

She was confirmed in the Lutheran faith and was an active member of the Bethlehem Lutheran Church and Ladies Aid.

Her marriage to Casper Rimathe took place on Mar. 3, 1894. Eight children blessed their home, three of whom died in infancy.

Her husband preceded her in death on Aug. 31, 1943.

She is survived by five children: Mrs. Lydia Estrem, Mrs. Elsie Weeks, Mrs. Carolyn Johnson and Ray Rimathe, all of Slater, and Ed. Rimathe of Iowa City; three sisters, Mrs. Anna Ihle and Mrs. Tena Ihle of Slater and Mrs. Bertha Gandrup of Story City; 17 grandchildren, 35 great-grandchildren; 1 great-great-grandchild; many nieces and nephews.

Mrs. Rimathe will be remembered as a kind and loving mother, neighbor and friend and for her continued patience and cheerfulness during her long illness.
