FLU CLAIMS AGED WOMAN
Died at Nephew's Home East of Town Sunday Evening--Funeral Yesterday
At the home of nephew, Mr. and Mrs. Edwin Rimathe, east of town, on Sunday evening took place the death of Miss Susanna Rimathe, a victim of the flu. She took sick with the flu several weeks ago, but was at no time seriously ill and was up and about. On Tuesday of last week there was a sudden change and it was feared that she would not live through the day, it having affected her heart. However she got better with each succeeding day till Friday, when she was much worse. Bronchial pneumonia had set in and she was again a very sick woman. Her heart again showed signs of weakening and she kept on failing till 8:30 o'clock on Sunday evening, when she passed on.
Deceased was a native of Switzerland, where she was born September 6, 1863. At the age of 10 she emigrated to America and had spent thirty-five years of her residence in this country in this vicinity, and up till the time of her illness had lived with a brother and sister on the Rimathe farm immediately east of Slater. Of the immediate relatives she is mourned by a brother, Casper, who lives north of Slater, and another brother, Christ, and a sister, Christina, of east of Slater. The latter two and the deceased had lived together for many years, till last week, when she was removed to the Edwin Rimathe home.
The funeral took place yesterday afternoon from the Bethlehem church, the services being in charge of Rev. Rorem, who addressed the sorrowing relatives and friends.
Burial was made in the Slater cemetery.
SUBMITTER'S NOTE: The brother, Casper, mentioned above in Casper Rimathe. However, the brother and sister named, Christ and Christina, are half-siblings: Christ Mier and Christina Mier.
