“MARTHA BEAL, MAXWELL, DIED. – Mrs. Martha** Beal, 70, of Maxwell, died at a nursing home in Des Moines Thursday. She has been in ill health for about six years. Funeral services will be held from the Maxwell Presbyterian church at 2 p.m. Sunday. The Rev. Harold Smith officiating. Burial will be in the Brethren cemetery south of Maxwell. The body will lie in state at Cooper funeral home in Maxwell, until the time of the service. Mrs. Beal is survived by three sons, James of Maxwell, Robert of Boone, and Verland of Denison; three daughters, Mrs. Dorothy Talbert of Sunny Vale, Calif., Mrs. Blanche Buckingham of Des Moines, and Mrs. Marilyn Longnecker of Cambridge, 19 grandchildren, and four sisters. She was preceded in death by her husband, Roy, and one son.” **All other references use the name Bertha not Martha.
