Nevada Public Library obituary file, Nevada, Iowa, NEVADA JOURNAL, Nevada, Iowa, August 22, (1928).
“PIONEER FARMER CALLED BY DEATH. – Special to the Journal. Maxwell, Aug. 22 – U. S. Beal, 66, pioneer retired farmer of this community died at his home northeast of Maxwell Sunday night at 10:30 o’clock, after an illness of a couple of days. He leaves besides his wife two sons, Roy and Ray of near Maxwell and three daughters: Mrs. Wm. Hostetler of Colo; Mrs. Bert Link of near Collins and Mrs. R. Z. Brown of this place. The rites will be held at the Brethren church, four miles south of Maxwell and interment will be made in the family lot in the Brethren churchyard near by.”
