DEATH OF GRANDMA LAYCOCK.

Passed Away at Home of Her Daughter in Marshalltown.

Mrs. Emeline Laycock [should be Helena Laycock], whose serious condition was mentioned in the Journal on Friday, died Saturday evening about nine o'clock at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Bruce Myers [should be Myer], in Marshalltown. The funeral will be held this afternoon at 1:30 o'clock at the Presbyterian church in Marshalltown, after which the body will be taken to Chenoa, Ill., for interment. She leaves two daughters, Mrs. Ethan Dawson of Zearing and Mrs. Myer of Marshalltown and one son, John K. Laycock had not been strong, for some time and a few weeks ago evidenced a desire to return to her old home in Illinois for a visit. While there she was taken ill and although hardly strong enough to make the trip, she was anxious to return to her children while yet alive, and the son John started with her the latter part of the week and reached as far as Marshalltown when it was necessary to take her to the home of Mrs. Myer, and summon medical assistance at once. Mrs. Laycock was a woman 78 years of age, was a most excellent woman and was loved by all who knew her. The son and daughters will receive the sympathy of all in their hours of bereavement.

Obituary of Mrs. Laycock

Helena Ann Kay was born November 14, 1834 at Georgetown, Brown county, Ohio, was married January 13, 1852 to John W. Laycock of Georgetown, Ohio, and moved to Livingston county, Illinois, in 1869. After the death of her husband in 1888, she made her home with her children in Iowa. She died at the home of her daughter in Marshalltown, Iowa, Sept. 28, 1912. She leaves three children John K. of Zearing, Mrs. E. B. Myer of Marshalltown and Mrs. E. Dawson of Zearing. One son, Lee M. of St. Anthony, died June 1, 1911, and three brothers and two sisters, Joseph T. Kay, of Pontiac, Ill., Dr. Z. L. Kay of McCook, Neb., S. L. Kay of Little Rock, Ark., Mrs. E. L. Armstrong of Peoria, Ill., and Mrs. P. Smith of Oregon.

Mrs. Laycock was converted and united with the M. E. church at the age of 14 years and has been a faithful member of the church and lived a consistent every day Christian life up to the time of her death. Funeral services were conducted by the Rev. S. E. Ellis pastor of the Fist M. E. church of Marshalltown, at 1:30 o'clock p. m., Monday, Sept. 30. Interment in the Payne cemetery at Chenoa, Ill., October 1, 1912.
