Last Rites Held For Albert Spurling

Funeral services for Albert Spurling were held from the Ryan Funeral Home Saturday afternoon at 2:30 with the Rev. C. E. Lookingbill officiating.

Mrs. Floyd Brown and Mrs. Ray Lounsberry sang to songs, "Beyond the Sunset" and "In the Sweet Bye and Bye", accompanied by Mrs. Ralph Dillin at the organ. Mrs. Dillin also played at the beginning and close of the service.

The casket bearers were Pet Durby, Walter Gull, Ed Rahfeldt, Bob Rahfeldt, William Rahfeldt and Arthur Kirchoff.

Burial was in the family lot in Iowa Center cemetery.

Obituary

Albert Spurling, son of John and Mary Spurling was born in Illinois on Jan. 24, 1877 and departed this life on Dec. 27, 1956 at the Story County hospital, Nevada after an illness of about 30 days, the last 10 of which were spent in the Story County Hospital. He was 79 years old at the time of his death.

He was married to Florence Halterman in August of 1930. They lived in Iowa Center most of the years of their married life. He leaves to mourn his passing two brothers, Charles D. and William of Nevada, Iowa, several nieces and nephews and a host of friends. When he was 9 years old he came to Iowa from Illinois with his parents. He spent about 9 years in Marshall County after which he came to Story County, where he lived the remainder of his life, with the exception of about two years, which he spent in northern Iowa.

He farmed with his brother, William, for several year before coming to Nevada. He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, Florence, four brothers and three sisters.
